Event Reconstruction in the CBM Experiment

چکیده
The efficiency of track reconstruction for particles detected in at least four stations is presented in Table 1. Two STS detector setups have been investigated. In the idealistic setup all stations are pixel-like detectors. The realistic setup consists of (going downstream) 2 MAPS detectors, 1 pixel detector and 4 double-sided silicon strip detectors with 15 stereo angle. Different number of pile-up events in the MAPS stations have been investigated. Track fitting [1, 2] is done using the Kalman filter technique. A special analytic formula [3] has been derived for fast track extrapolation in a non-homogeneous magnetic field. The precision of extrapolation does not depend on the shape of the magnetic field. The extrapolated track parameters are expanded in a power series of the magnetic field components. The formula with terms up to the third order has the quality of propagation equal to the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method.

On-line reconstruction algorithms for the CBM and ALICE experiments
This thesis presents various algorithms which have been developed for on-line event reconstruction in the CBM experiment at GSI, Darmstadt and the ALICE experiment at CERN, Geneve. Despite the fact that the experiments are different — CBM is a fixed target experiment with forward geometry, while ALICE has a typical collider geometry — they share common aspects when reconstruction is concerned. ...

The Compressed Baryonic Matter (CBM) experiment at the future FAIR facility at Darmstadt will measure dileptons emitted from the hot and dense phase in heavy-ion collisions. Very fast event reconstruction is extremely important for CBM because of the huge amount of data which has to be handled. In this contribution the parallel event reconstruction algorithms in the Ring Imaging CHerenkov detec...

The future heavy-ion experiment CBM (FAIR/GSI, Darmstadt, Germany) will focus on the measurement of very rare probes at interaction rates up to 10 MHz with data flow of up to 1 TB/s. The beam will provide free stream of beam particles without bunch structure. That requires full online event reconstruction and selection not only in space, but also in time, so-called 4D event building and selecti...

CBM (“Compressed Baryonic Matter”) is an experiment being prepared to operate at the future Facility for Anti-Proton and Ion Research (FAIR) in Darmstadt, Germany, from 2018 on. CBM will explore the high-density region of the QCD phase diagram by investigating nuclear collisions from 2 to 45 GeV beam energy per nucleon. Its main focus is the measurement of very rare probes (e.g. charmed hadrons...

Very fast event reconstruction is extremely important for the CBM experiment because of the huge amount of data which has to be handled. Fast algorithms require less computer power and becomes possible to use them in the online reconstruction. In this contribution, the fast parallel ring recognition algorithm for the CBM RICH detector is presented. Modern CPUs have two features, which enable pa...
